Fitbit replaces several hundred units of sound Sense smart watch due to a problem with the electrocardiogram (ECG) function. As first spotted in Fitbit Forums through The edge, some affected users said the company proactively contacted them about a replacement.
“We have found an issue in a very limited subset of our initial Fitbit Sense shipments – a few hundred devices worldwide – that could cause the default ECG app to show an ‘inconclusive’ result on readings,” a Fitbit spokesperson told Engadget. “We are able to identify affected devices during setup and immediately contact those users to provide them with a new replacement device free of charge. No other Fitbit devices are affected and future shipments of Sense devices will not be affected by this issue. “
