Dismissed Amazon employee gets court hearing in retaliation

Must read

Amazon workers alleging retaliation on the denunciation and the organization of work will get at least one day in court. BuzzFeed News at learned that the National Labor Relations Board granted former worker Courtney Bowden a hearing before an administrative judge on March 9, 2021. The NLRB found Bowden’s claims that Amazon had “interfered with, restricted and coerced” sufficiently fair workers to advance the case.

Bowden accused Amazon of threatening, suspending and ultimately firing her for talking to fellow warehouse workers in Pennsylvania about pay and other working conditions. She was part of a larger wave of workers who said they were made redundant this spring for being frank critics Amazon’s labor practices, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company allegedly used thin excuses to punish workers, such as claims Bowden violated a rule about wearing hair.
