Watch SpaceX attempt its first high-altitude spacecraft test flight

SpaceX is finally on the verge of a high altitude test flight for a prototype of his Starship vehicle, after yesterday’s attempt was cleared by an automatic shutdown of its Raptor engines. The company is ready to try again today, and stepped in minutes after its earlier launch before pausing the countdown and restarting.

Now, SpaceX’s live broadcast says it’s aiming for a launch time of 5:40 p.m. ET, and if all goes well, we’ll see the Starship SN8 flying at an altitude of 12.5 km (41,000 feet) and attempt a record landing flip maneuver.
