The days of Android Things are numbered. Google has revealed that the Internet of Things platform joins its stack more and more of products withdrawn in a FAQ page for developers. The tech giant at the origin launched Android Things as an operating system for all types of IoT devices until it decides to change the goal of the platform and make it a dedicated speaker and display operating system that OEMs can use for their products last year. “In accordance with these updates,” Google wrote on the FAQ page, “we are declining the Android Things console for non-commercial use.”

The Android Things console will stop accepting new projects from January 5, 2021, which is in a few weeks. Developers can continue to use the console to deploy live updates, among other things, to their existing projects for another year. On January 5, 2022, Google will close the console and delete all projects and data.
