Zane Tetevano released from Penrith Panthers immediately to join Leeds

Penrith Panthers released Zane Tetevano in the last year of his contract, to join Leeds in the Super League.

In a statement, the club said the 30-year-old prop has been granted immediate release to enter into a three-year contract with Leeds Rhinos.

“We have granted Zane’s request for release out of respect for him and his family, given the precious opportunity presented to them by Leeds Rhinos,” Rugby League Panthers general manager Matt Cameron said.

“We would like to thank Leeds Rhinos and Zane manager Wayde Rushton for their cooperation through this process.

“We also thank Zane for his service with the Panthers and wish him good luck in the Super League.”

Tetevano, who made 19 NRL appearances in 2020 averaging 100 yards per game, is grateful for his time at the club.

“Although it is difficult to leave the Panthers, I am extremely grateful to the club for allowing my family and I to seize this opportunity,” said Tetevano.

“My time at Penrith has been one of the most enjoyable years of my career.

“I want to thank everyone involved in the club for their support and wish them the best for the future.”

It is said that the paperwork for his Leeds contract will be finalized in the coming days.
