Must read

With a namesake like Atlas, you wouldn’t think Boston Dynamics’ bipedal robot would be the most agile specimen on the planet. But then we have already seen that he has a talent for parkour, and now you can add dancing to her talent list. In his latest viral safe video, we see Atlas and the entire Boston Dynamics family, including the dog-shaped spot and the stack of boxes. Manipulate, dance to “Do You Love Me” by The Contours. And as a 6’2 man, just let me say I’m jealous that anything so big can move with so much mobility and grace.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Boston Dynamics robot spin its limbs to a classic tune. In 2018, the then SoftBank subsidiary shared a video of Spot dancing to “Uptown Funk. Watching the two clips back to back shows just how far the company’s robots have come in two years. The dance we saw on Spot in 2018 was impressive, but it couldn’t dance the pointe like its 2020 counterpart.
