SolarWinds hires former federal cybersecurity chief as consultant

Sudhakar Ramakrishna, who took over as CEO of SolarWinds this week, written in a blog post that the company brought in several cybersecurity experts to help the team immediately improve “critical business and product development systems, with the goal of making SolarWinds a leader in enterprise software security.” Sure his website, Krebs Stamos Group says it works with its clients to “help them understand the threats they face, the weaknesses in their posture and the role they play in the security of our society at large.”

Hackers allegedly used a vulnerability in computer management software sold by SolarWinds to gain access to systems belonging to many private sector organizations, including federal agencies. US intelligence agencies have suggested that Russia was behind the attack and officials estimate that more than 18,000 SolarWinds customers may have been affected. Meanwhile, it emerged that the US court records may have been compromised in the breach.
