GM’s BrightDrop is building an EV ‘ecosystem’ for delivery companies

These two elements are the first of a BrightDrop “ecosystem” that will include both vehicles and software. The company will provide customers with a cloud-based platform, for example, which can be used to monitor their operations and improve the efficiency of their fleet. The EP1 will also offer tracking of location and battery status, remote locking and unlocking, and other features via live updates. The EV600, meanwhile, will have location tracking, remote battery and charging management, incident logging, and more. Just like the EP1, it will also benefit from live updates.

BrightDrop moves through a space that heats up quickly. Amazon has already revealed a nice EV delivery van with Rivian. British startup Arrival has already got an order with the delivery giant UPS. Canoo also works hard on its own versatile delivery vehicle. BrightDrop has a key partner on its side, however: FedEx. The pair have already completed a pilot program with EP1 and have a second pilot scheduled for this quarter. FedEx will also be the first company to receive EV600 vans later this year.
