NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3060 offers ray tracing for $ 329

Must read

NVIDIA clearly doesn’t think its Ampere-based GPUs are accessible enough. The company has unveiled the RTX 3060, a more affordable alternative to the 3060 Ti which even skips high-end counterparts in a few areas. It doesn’t offer as much raw computing power as the Ti with 13 shader TFLOPs vs. 16.2 and “ only ” 25 ray tracing TFLOPs (vs. around 39.7), but it also comes with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory. This is more than the 10 GB of RTX 3080, not to mention the 3060 Ti’s 8GB – if what you do is more memory-dependent, it’s worth considering.

You should still get all the benefits of RTX 30 cards, including enhanced ray tracing performance and DLSS. However, it is the first NVIDIA GPU to support Resizable BAR technology which allows the processor to directly access the memory on the card. Just like AMD Radeon RX 6000 series, you’ll get a slight speed boost with the right hardware (in this case, the right motherboard).
