A sequel to one of the best Nintendo 64 games is almost upon us. Today, The Pokémon Company announced that the imaginatively named new Pokémon Snap will arrive on the Switch on April 30. A new trailer shows the game’s twin heroes and Lental, a new region filled with a variety of terrains. Like the original title, you’ll be stuck inside a vehicle – this time called the NEO-ONE – which automatically moves along a preset track. Your job is to look around and, using the in-game camera, take the best photos possible. At the end of each class, you will be awarded points based on various factors, such as whether the Pokémon pose.
The gameplay goes a little further than that, however. For example, you can throw soft toys to attract Pokémon and trigger special moments. Some creatures and vegetation will also be covered with an unusual glow. “These strange events are only found in the Lental region and are known as the Illumina phenomenon,” teased The Pokémon Company. in a press release. It will be your job to uncover the mystery of this phenomenon, alongside Professor Mirror – who bears a strange resemblance to Professor Birch – and his assistant Rita.
