LEGO Ideas Metroid Set reveals massive Ridley add-on in fan-made project

A fan-made LEGO set featuring characters from the Metroid franchise received another important update today, as Ridley has now been added to the project. It features fully articulated arms, legs, tail and head, and can even grab minifigures in its hands. Super Metroid

, Ridley has been one of bounty hunter Samus Aran’s longtime foes throughout the series, appearing in many subsequent games and even become a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after being one of the most requested characters for years. But this LEGO creation could be one of Ridley’s coolest iterations to date.

the project by user L-DI-EGO in fact, started in May 2020, but has received a constant stream of updates as more and more supporters have supported the project, including several styles of helmet for Samus, space pirate variants and a Alternative Hunter class combat variant seen in the Metroid Prime series.

LEGO Ideas is a website for master builders to submit their ideas to and if 10,000 people support the project, it will be reviewed by a panel of LEGO experts and potentially turned into a real set. At any given time, there may be hundreds of pop culture inspired submissions that fans have created.

One of the most popular LEGO ideas to gain traction recently and become an official set was The Central Perk set on the theme of Friends released in 2019 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Friends.

Simply gaining 10,000 subscribers does not guarantee that an official set will be produced, however. A LEGO Ideas creation with a small diorama from the game Untitled Goose got the necessary supports, but was eventually passed on by the LEGO company after review.

Nintendo surprised many by announcing a Super Mario-themed interactive LEGO crossover series Last year. A a new batch of LEGO Super Mario expansion sets was announced recently and is expected to launch this year and will include Chain Chomps, Wigglers, a Tanooki costume, and more.Many longtime Nintendo fans were delighted to receive an official LEGO playset including a complete NES with controller and Super Mario Bros. cartridge. as well as a “playable” retro-style television released last year.
