Microsoft has issued a statement to IGN that it is investigating the issue and working on a fix. Check out the full statement below:
“At Microsoft, we put all of our products through rigorous quality assurance testing and are committed to providing our customers with an unparalleled gaming experience. We are aware that some gamers may be unresponsive with their new Xbox Wireless Controllers and our teams are actively working on a solution. For the best experience, we encourage customers to visit Xbox Support help.”
Users are starting to share their experiences with failed controllers online. A player tells The loading that the “Y” button is the one that primarily doesn’t work for them.
Xbox Series X games confirmed
It’s unclear what the cause of the problem is, and until Microsoft announces an official patch, it’s hard to say which interim fixes are available to gamers.
The Xbox controller is the latest console hardware to deal with the issues. Nintendo Switch has a long history of Defective Joy-Cons, with issues ranging from disconnecting controllers to drifting – where the reticle will start to move without player intervention.
More recently, the PlayStation 5 DualSense has also experienced cases of drift. You can see all that we know the DualSense drift here.
