Overwatch’s Pachimarchi Challenge launches today! Snow storm teased the very first event of yesterday and it brings the adorable and sprawling mascot of the game to the fore. The event runs until March 22 and features new cosmetics and other rewards.
For players who haven’t noticed in one way or another, Pachimari is the Onion and Octopus mascot placed all over Overwatch maps. You’ve probably hit a fluff or two on a table before games. It’s a bit of a big deal in Overwatch lore, appearing in multiple films across the universe and other products. Now his name also has a challenge.
The creme de la creme for the Pachimarchi Challenge prizes is a new Roadhog Pachimari Epic Skin (pictured above) that turns the big guy into the biggest Pachimari fanboy in the world. Simply logging in during the Challenge rewards 6 new sprays, but other prizes require players to accumulate wins during matches. Blizzard has broken down the exact number of wins players will need to earn the following rewards:
3 wins – player icon
6 wins – Emote Junkrat
9 wins – Roadhog Pachimari Epic Skin
The fashions themselves appear to be the same, with the possible exception of the Pachimari plush toys raining down from the teaser. It’s unclear whether this is something that will actually happen during games or not. Overall, much like the Kanezaka Challenge in January, the Pachimarchi Challenge looks like a small but fun update designed to keep players engaged with Overwatch instead of a new hero and as Overwatch 2 explores (and I mean ramp) closer and closer.
