Blake Ferguson triggers eels’ return to Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium

Eel winger Blake Ferguson was back at his all-time best, scoring one try and preparing for another as Parramatta claimed a victory from behind over the Brisbane Broncos.

After a disappointing first half that saw the Eels lag 16-0 at halftime, Parramatta, behind two magical Ferguson moments, scored four unanswered tries tonight to defeat the Broncos 24-16 at Suncorp Stadium.

Ferguson’s first highlight came when the winger found the ball on the sideline, staying just inside the playing field a few millimeters before placing a grubber behind Eels Clint Gutherson, who planted the ball as Parramatta started to find their touch.

Fergo and Gutho combine for mind-blowing tryout

Soon after, a scrimmage game from the Eels saw Ferguson receive the ball, with a run to the open try line as three Broncos defensemen competed.

Ferguson found his way over the try line, while making sure he had the ball before the Broncos trio pushed him into what rugby great Paul Vautin described as a moment shine.

“It’s a miracle! He’s got five coming on him,” Vautin told Nine.

“Brilliant, brilliant by Blake Ferguson in the corner.”

Big Roosters Brad Fittler added: “It was a statement.

“Le Fergy is back!

“It’s smart, he takes the brunt of the defense on his left side, keeping the ball in his right hand and stretching – no self-preservation and he plants the ball, literally in inches.”

Ferguson, who scored just four tries in 20 games last season, was asked if he could have scored that try last season, to which he replied, “No chance.

“I trained everything out of season.

“I have a point to prove to myself.”
