England preferred to go with Adil Rashid as the sole spinner throughout the five-game series as Moeen Ali warmed up the benches. India beat England’s Pacers in the T20I Final to win the Series 3-2.
Questioning England’s tactics, Michael Vaughan wrote on Twitter:
“Moeen Ali has to be the greatest energy drink mixer ever… Failed two tests for not playing a T20 series game… !!! #OnOn #INDvENG. “
Moeen Ali was part of the England squad for the first two test matches against India in Chennai but did not play the first match. Playing second, he won eight wickets in the game and scored 43 of 18 in England’s second leg.
After England lost the second test by 317 points, Moeen Ali returned home in line with the team’s rotation policy. He returned to India for the T20Is, only to warm up the bench.
Meanwhile, Adil Rashid, who was in the five T20Is, claimed four wickets at a strike rate of 28.5 and a savings of 7.78.
We didn’t get to enjoy some great moments: England captain Eoin Morgan
England, who led 2-1 after three games, failed in the last two games to concede the series 2-3.
In the decisive T20I on Saturday, they conceded 224 bowling points first. Despite a spirited counterattack, England missed by 36 points.
Analyzing what went wrong, England captain Eoin Morgan felt India had won the big moments while his team failed to capture the same. Speaking at the post-game conference, Morgan admitted:
“Playing against a strong Indian team in their conditions was fantastic. Another fantastic game today. India outscored us in the big moments and deserved to win. We also played good cricket throughout the series. So a lot of positives for us. We beat us pretty deeply, and we tend to take advantage of that. “
The English captain continued:
“The big moments in this series came when we couldn’t enjoy it with our middle order. We still feel like we have the knack in the locker room to give a crack. It wasn’t our day. our huge. plusses has been the powerplay bowling game in most games. I have to commend Adil Rashid for taking on the new role. Gives us a new option. “
India and England will then meet in a three-match ODI series starting March 23 in Pune.
