We’re now in the second round of the 2021 NCAA tournament, and if its games look like Friday and Saturday, then we’re in a lot more March craziness.
Nine double-digit seeds won their first-round clashes, punctuated by incredible victories by Oral Roberts 15 Seed Over Ohio State 2 Seed; North Texas 13 seeds on Purdue 4 seeds; and the 13-seeded Ohio on the 4-seeded Virginia. We also saw a non-competition, as the 7-seed Oregon surpassed the 10-seed VCU after the Rams have been hit by COVID-19 issues.
Hope this stays in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Everything else, however, is fair game.
Interesting games to grab on Sunday include a meeting of former rivals Big East in Syracuse, 11 seeded, and 3 seeded in West Virginia; a renewal of the Southwestern Conference rivalry between 6-seed Texas Tech and 3-seed Arkansas; and Oral Roberts 15 seed versus Florida 7 seed. Can the Golden Eagles pull off another upheaval?
