Seth Rogen is set to play Steven Spielberg’s “favorite uncle” in the director’s upcoming semi-biopic, which is loosely based on Spielberg’s childhood growing up in Arizona. Deadline, Rogen was called in to play young Spielberg’s beloved uncle in the untitled film. He joins the cast alongside Michelle Williams who would be on board to play a character inspired by Spielberg’s mother. Casting is also reportedly underway for several of the different children’s roles, one of which “will play the role inspired by the young storyteller”.As the story is very personal to Spielberg, the renowned filmmaker takes on screenwriting duties for the first time in 20 years (artificial intelligence AI in 2001 being the last time he wrote a screenplay for a feature film) . Spielberg collaborated on this new screenplay with Tony Kushner, who he previously worked with on Munich, Lincoln and his upcoming West Side Story remake.
