National Treasure TV series would be Greenlit for Disney Plus

A National treasure The TV series would be lit green for Disney + after reports from last year suggested the show may be in the works.
Deadline reports that the streaming service has ordered 10 episodes of the show. Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the National Treasure franchise, and original writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley are reportedly committed to the project. Other authors of the National Treasure films are expected to join the production.Reports say the show “explores topical issues of identity, community, historical fatherhood and patriotism, told from the perspective of Jess Morales,” who is a new Latina lead character in the franchise, although no casting for the role has been revealed.

Nicolas Cage’s Ben Gates will not be the main character of the series. Instead, the series will focus on a new cast of characters led by Morales.

Last year, Bruckheimer announced that a The National Treasure TV series was in development with a whole new cast, saying, “The Disney + one is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept but a young cast.”

The long awaited Third entry in the National Treasure film series is still in development. Last year, Bad Boys for Life screenwriter Chris Bremner was brought in to write the screenplay. Way back in 2008National Treasure 3 is rumored to focus on the Gates family’s search for Atlantis.
