The smile that made Sanjay Manjrekar an admirer of Yuvraj Singh

Must read

Former Indian player Sanjay manjrekar revealed an interesting incident about how Yuvraj Singh reacted with a smile, despite Manjrekar criticizing the selection of the former all-rounder.

Sanjay Manjrekar was not happy with Yuvraj Singh’s selection for the 2012 T20 World Cup and made a public statement about it.

Luckily, Yuvraj Singh performed well in one of the games and was named Player of the Match. Giving details of what happened next, Sanjay Manjrekar said in Tales from SK:

“I was doing the post-game presentation. I was a little tense. I thought he would be a little unhappy with me. When I announced him as the man of the match, he was walking towards me with a smile. And then I told him that “there were people who thought you shouldn’t have been part of this team”. “

Revealing Yuvraj Singh’s response, Sanjay Manjrekar said:

“Yes sir, I’ve heard people talk about it.

Sanjay Manjrekar continued:

“And he smiled at me. I will never forget that. It was so sporty of him. The way he smiled back, fully understanding how dynamics work. There was no anguish, no mockery. He did a great interview with me. After that, I had so much respect for this man, Yuvraj Singh.

Why Sanjay Manjrekar was not in favor of the selection of Yuvraj Singh

Explaining why he was not in favor of Yuvraj Singh’s selection for the 2012 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, Sanjay Manjrekar said he believed it was an emotional selection.

Elaborating on the same topic, the cricketer-turned-analyst said:

“India won the World Cup in 2011 and Yuvraj Singh was named the man of the tournament. He was diagnosed with cancer after the World Cup. It was amazing how he rebounded (from cancer). And I remember when the 2012 T20 World Cup was held, Yuvraj Singh was selected for the squad. In my usual way, I didn’t get emotional and said that the selection was more based on emotions and not on the cricket grounds. “

According to Manjrekar, Yuvraj Singh was not yet in good shape. He hadn’t played enough cricket to compete at the highest level.

“I thought he should have played a few more games before he came back. But there was so much sympathy from the audience and the fans wanted him to come back and play for India. So that angle also played, and I felt it wasn’t fair. It became a controversy and Yuvraj Sing’sh fans weren’t happy, ”Manjrekar admitted.

Yuvraj Singh recently starred for India Legends in the Road Safety World Series, where the southpaw put on a stellar spectacle in the team’s title triumph.

Yuvraj Singh also revealed a new look on social media on Thursday.
