When you open the updated music memos, a notification prompts you to export your recordings to voice memos. If you close the pop-up window, it will appear in another seven days. Once the process is complete, you will find all of your recordings in a folder called “Music Memos”. As long as you have iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 installed on your device, you will still be able to use Music Memos. However, after March 1, 2021, you will no longer be able to download Music Memos if it is not already in the purchase history on the App Store.
Apple didn’t say why it was shutting down Music Memos, but it is likely that few people were using the software. As 9to5Mac points out that the irony of all of this is that Apple introduced music memos so musicians don’t have to use voice memos. Now it pushes those same users back to voice memos.
