Apple closes stores in California and UK as COVID-19 cases skyrocket

Los Angeles and other cities in California are currently getting “crushed“By the coronavirus, with availability 3 percent as it is on Saturday, December 19. The state issued a order to stay at home in effect for at least three weeks which will not be lifted until the capacity of the ICU reaches or exceeds 15 percent. Meanwhile, the UK has issued late foreclosure orders due to a spike in cases and a new, rapid spread COVID-19 strain.

The shutdown comes at one of the busiest times of the year for retail stores, just four days before Christmas – which takes place on a Friday this year. However, as Apple points out on its retail website, you can always retrieve orders placed online. It will also honor Genius in-store support appointments and one-on-one shopping sprees booked with a specialist before December 22.
