Army of the Dead is a zombie movie set in post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. A group of mercenaries must venture into the quarantine zone to achieve “the greatest heist ever.” Based on the synopsis, you would imagine it will be like Ocean’s 11 but with zombies and guns.
Army of the Dead is Snyder’s first film as a director since he worked on Justice League in 2017, although he didn’t finish the film by handing over directing duties to Joss Whedon.
Snyder is also working on the Snyder Cut of Justice League, now officially titled Justice League by Zack Snyder, for HBO Max. However, in addition to producing credits on DC’s recent film list, Snyder has “No plan” to make other DC movies after completing his Justice League Cup.
This isn’t Snyder’s first zombie movie as he rose to prominence with his 2004 Restarting Dawn of the Dead.
Army of the Dead will premiere on Netflix in 2021. A previous film titled Army of the Dead: The Prequel is currently in post-production, along with a spin-off of the anime titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas.
