Andy Murray entered a lower level challenger tournament in Italy next month after retiring from the Australian Open with the coronavirus.

Murray is listed to play an indoor tournament in Biella from February 15 – while the Australian Open is still underway – the Italian Tennis Federation announced on Wednesday.

The tournament has 132,000 euros ($ 208,000) in prize money.

Murray tested positive for COVID-19 shortly before boarding a charter flight to Melbourne, where he had received generic entry.

Murray is a former No.1 who is currently ranked 123rd as he returns from hip problems that led to two surgeries.

He last played a challenger event in August 2019 in Mallorca, Spain, as he recovered from his hip problems.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 54, who also tested positive for COVID-19 before his planned trip to Australia, No.74 Lucas Pouille, Sebastian Korda, Andreas Seppi and Lorenzo Musetti are also entered in the Biella tournament.
