French world no. 28 Benoit Pair stunned reviewers on one of the weirder service games you’ll ever see in its ATP Cup confront Fabio Fognini.

Paire faced Fabio Fognini in France’s first leg and the Italian ATP Cup on Wednesday, and as the Italian fled with the 6-1 7-6 victory, it was Paire’s service game that made the headlines.

The incident happened in the first set with Pair serving and the scores tied 1-1, when he triggered an incredible eight consecutive fouls.

The Frenchman was serving while looking at the sun and struggled to locate his radar, with Fognini also left stumped at one point as he interrupted his serve without ever touching the ball.

Paire’s incredible mistake also left Geoff Masters and Colin Fleming’s commentary team stunned.

“My God! Well that’s amazing,” Masters exclaimed on the cover of Nine.

“I’m not sure I’ve seen this before at this level. A bunch of double faults and Fognini is good at the break.”

“He’s clearly struggling with the sun as you see it,” Fleming added.
