2020 has been a year none of us will soon forget, that’s for sure. But despite all of the challenges of the past year, the entertainment industry has continued to move forward as best it can. Yes, in many places movie theaters were not even allowed to open for long periods of time, or potential audiences were reluctant to revert to their old cinematic ways.
But it has led to a shift in the way people watch new movies in 2020, as many titles have gone straight to streaming and on-demand, or a hybrid between cinema and streaming. Unsurprisingly, TV and streaming services took advantage of having everyone stay at home, and there were plenty of great shows to choose from this year besides the movies. For every Black Widow delayed, a Wonder Woman 1984 has managed to emerge. Maybe you didn’t want to go to the theater to see Tenet, but Ted Lasso was just waiting to be watched at home …

To be eligible for the 2020 IGN Film, Television and Comics Awards, a significant portion of our editorial team must have been able to see a title by December 11, 2020. We reserve the right to enter any title as a nomination if it comes out on December 18, 2020.
In deciding which categories to award prizes for this year, we wanted to ensure that we could include a variety of films, TV shows and comics from a wide range of talent, while also accommodating the change in audience habits and the availability of titles. this past year.
