The Bills won’t get the respite from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes they had hoped for in the AFC Championship game on Sunday 2021.
Mahomes was knocked out of the divisional round by a blow to the head, but he passed the NFL concussion protocol during the week and will start at Arrowhead Stadium. Chad Henne would have been the choice if Mahomes had been left out.
While the Bills held down the Ravens and Lamar Jackson to three points last weekend, their meeting with Mahomes presents a much greater challenge to their quest for the Super Bowl. Kansas City’s offense typically buzzes under its star passer in a way few other teams can match. And while Buffalo is able to move the ball behind Josh Allen, the combination of crowd noise in Kansas City and the pressure of a conference title game is unfamiliar.
The AFC Championship game is the second NFL game on Sunday after the Packers and Buccaneers met earlier in the afternoon.
