The cast of Eli Roth’s Borderlands has grown in a short time, already boasting of Jack Black (Sales pitch), Cate Blanchett (Lilith), Jamie lee curtis (Patricia Tannis) and Kevin hart (Roland). The latest character to find her performer is fan favorite Tiny Tina, who will be played by Ariana Greenblatt.
For those of you who ask “who?” Ariana Greenblatt may be more familiar to the general public (especially Marvel fans) as the actress who portrayed the child Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War. Yes, she’s half of that famous scene that started a thousand memes. You know the one.
Greenblatt has been a busy bee since then, appearing in three films in 2020: Scoob! (young Velma), Love and monsters (Minnow) and The one and only Ivan (Julia). In 2021, Greenblatt is set to appear in the film adaptation of Hamilton the musical by creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, In the heights as well as The Boss Baby: Family business. According to Deadline, Greenblatt landed the role of Tiny Tina after a worldwide search.
Tiny Tina first appeared in Borderlands 2 and is a young explosives expert who was orphaned after her parents were sold to the evil company Hyperion to experiment. Her love for demolition means that she usually helps Vault Hunters with anything that needs to explode. Or she just wants to make a snack (you don’t want to taste it). The character has become one of the most popular faces in the franchise, appearing in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 3, and fans have been eagerly awaiting to see who would portray her in the film.
The Borderlands movie is being directed by Lionsgate and is set to begin filming this year after facing several setbacks related to the pandemic. The film currently does not have a concrete release window.
How do you think Ariana Greenblatt will behave as Tiny Tina and which actress were you thinking of instead? Let us know in the comments!
