Bradley Beal almost hit a breaking point on Tuesday.
This was evident when cameras showed Beal sitting on the bench in the closing minutes of the Wizards’ 107-88 Road loss to the Rockets – a game in which he played a team-high 35 minutes, scored a high of 33 points and brought in five rebounds and four assists. (He and teammate Russell Westbrook, however, combined for 11 turnovers).

Beal’s frustration is understandable. By ESPN Statistics and Information, the double All-Star on Tuesday only became the sixth player in NBA history to score 25 or more points in their first 12 games of the season. Despite averaging 34.1 points (on 45% shots), 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 rebounds per game, Washington struggled to hit a 3-10 record. It was marked by losing streaks of five, three and, now, two games.
Naturally, Twitter was quick to seize the viral moment. In an amazing display of empathy, however, the majority of the reactions were not negative (although some were a little underhand).
Here is a sample of the best Twitter reactions after Beal’s discouraged moment:
Bradley Beal is so talented. It feels like a waste of career. Doesn’t he want to play games that I don’t know really matter. #bealieve
