Joe Burns could be set to make a Big Bash League return tomorrow after being named to the 19-man Brisbane Heat squad for their clash with the Sydney Sixers at Gabba.
Burns was free to return to the BBL when he was not named to Australia’s 18-man squad for the last two tests against India.
A decision on whether the Queenslander will play their first BBL game since the summer of 2019-2020 is now on the verge of being made when the Heat name their 13-man squad ahead of the bat flip.
Star Heat batsman Jimmy Peirson has said a BBL comeback will give Burns a massive boost.
“It’s probably the best thing for him to come in and play T20 cricket,” said Peirson.
“Disappointing news to see him leave the test team. He is a fantastic player.
“He’ll be back, bigger and stronger, and (I) can’t wait to catch up with him.”
