Now that Destiny 2 is available on the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X / S consoles, the big question is, when is crossplay coming? While Bungie said previously it would arrive next year at the earliest, the developer has now confirmed this cross-platform game will certainly be available sometime in 2021.

Bungie has gradually added cross-platform functionality, including support for cross-backups last year. And with the game’s arrival on next-gen consoles, it now offers cross-gen play so Xbox Series X / S users can play with Xbox One owners, for example. However, it’s still a bit of a surprise that full cross-play has yet to be activated given the number of multiplayer games that have taken place in this direction over the past few years.
