Before Joe Biden was sworn in as president, Donald Trump left the White House for the last time on Wednesday, delivering a final speech as president at Joint Base Andrews to his family, staff and supporters.
After his remarks, which lasted just under 10 minutes, he and First Lady Melania Trump put on a red carpet at Air Force One for his last flight as president, after which they will begin their lives after the White House in Florida.
Here is the full transcript of Trump’s last remarks as president:
Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you.
[Crowd chants: “We love you”]
Thank you very much and we love you. And I can tell you from the bottom of my heart.
It has been an incredible four years. We have accomplished so much together.
I want to thank all of my family and friends, staff and so many others for being here. I want to thank you for your efforts, your hard work. People have no idea how hard this family works. And they worked for you.
They could have had a much easier life, but they just did a fantastic job. I just want to thank you all, everyone. I want to thank Mark Meadows who is here somewhere, I want to thank Mark.
But it was, it was something very special, we achieved a lot, our first lady was a woman of great grace, beauty and dignity. And so popular with people, so popular with people, actually, honey, would you like to say a few words?
[Melania Trump]: Being your first lady has been my greatest honor. Thank you for your love and support, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all. God bless your families and God bless this beautiful nation.
[Donald Trump]: What else to say, right? But what we did – it’s true, honey. Good work. What we did was amazing, in every way we rebuilt the US military, created a new force called Space Force which in itself would be a major achievement for a regular administration, we weren’t a regular administration .
We took care of the vets – 91% approval they never had before, vets gave us the VA, vets gave us an approval rating like never before. We took care of our vets and our beautiful vets, they were treated very badly before we arrived. And as you know, we give them great service and we take the bill and they can go out and see a doctor if they have to wait long periods of time. We did this so that we could, unfortunately, get rid of the people who did not treat our vets properly. We did not have any of these rights before when I arrived. So our vets are happy, our employees are happy. Our army is thrilled.
We also secured tax cuts, the largest tax reduction and reform in our country’s history. I hope they don’t increase your taxes. But if they do, I told you!
If you look at the regulations I think the regulations reductions are perhaps even greater. That is why we have so many jobs and so many jobs. The number of jobs is absolutely incredible.
What we started if we hadn’t been affected by the pandemic, we would have had numbers that would never have been seen. Our numbers are already the best there is.
If you look at what happened up to February a year ago our numbers were at a level no one had ever seen before. And even now, we’ve really built it twice. We were hit, nobody blames us for it, the whole world got it and then we rebuilt it. And now the stock market is actually significantly higher than it was at its highest point before the pandemic. So it’s really – you could say, we’ve built it twice.
And you’re going to see, you’re going to see incredible numbers start to come in. If everything is somehow left alone and be careful, very complex. Pay attention. But you are going to see amazing things happen. And remember us when you see these things happening, if you – remember us because I’m looking – I’m looking at parts of our economy that’s set to become a rocket. It’s a rocket.
We have the biggest country in the world. We have the best economy in the world and as bad as the pandemic has been, we’ve been hit so hard, just as the whole world has been hit so hard, the places they didn’t get away with. not drawn, they are suffering right now. We did something that is truly considered a medical miracle. They call it a miracle. And that was the vaccine.
We developed the vaccine in nine months instead of nine, five or ten years. A long moment. Developing a vaccine was supposed to take a long time, many years. We have two. We have another one almost immediately, and it’s really a great success. So you should start to see some really good numbers over the next few months. I think you’re really going to see those numbers skyrocket downward.

And I can always say this. We have worked hard. We left everything, as the athletes would say, we left everything on the pitch. We don’t have to – we don’t have to come and say we’ll never say that in a month when we’re sitting in Florida we’re not going to look at each other and say you know if we don’t work a little harder, you can’t work harder. And we had a lot of obstacles and we went through the obstacles.
And we just got 75 million votes, and that’s a record in the history of – in the history of sitting presidents. It’s an all-time record. By several millions. In the history of sitting presidents, it was really just an honor.
One of the things we are very, very proud of is the selection of almost 300 federal judges and three excellent Supreme Court justices. It’s a very large number which is a record number and so we have done a lot and there is still things to do.
The first thing we need to do is pay homage and our love to the amazing people and families who have suffered so badly from the Chinese virus. It’s a horrible thing that’s been put on the world. We all know where it came from, but it’s a horrible, horrible thing. So be very careful. Be very, very careful, but we want to give great love, great love to all the people who have suffered, including the families who have suffered so badly.
So with that I just want to say that you are amazing people. It is a very large country. It is my greatest honor and privilege to have been your President.
I will always fight for you. I’ll watch, I’ll listen. And I will tell you that the future of this country has never been better.
I wish the new administration good luck and success. I think they will be very successful. They have the basis for doing something really spectacular. And again, we put him in a position like never before. Despite the worst plague to strike since I guess you’d say 1917, over 100 years ago. And despite that, despite that, the things we did have been just amazing. And I couldn’t have done it without you.

So just a goodbye. We love you. We will come back in one form or another.
And again, I just want to, on my way out, thank our VP Mike Pence and Karen. I want to thank Congress because we have worked really well with Congress, at least some parts of Congress. But we really did. We did so much that no one thought it would be possible, but I want to thank Congress and I want to thank all the great people in Washington, DC, all the people we have worked with to make this miracle happen.
So, good life. We will see you again soon. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Thank you.
