When you are as successful as Epic Games, you can do just about anything. It could literally range from anyone and anything appear in Fortnite, having big companies like Sony invest in you, generating enough cash to go along with Appleor, I don’t know, buying an entire mall to use as a new headquarters. Well, Epic continues to show that dreams come true because he did just that: he bought a mall for himself.
Residents of Cary, North Carolina will soon bid farewell to the struggling Cary Towne Center and hello to Epic Games’ new world headquarters. As reported by the Triangle business journal, the maker of Fortnite and Unreal Engine bought the 87-acre site for $ 95 million, a deal concluded last Thursday. So far we know the new campus will be made up of office buildings and recreation spaces, but Epic is working with city officials to include community aspects such as a public sports / recreation center. Development of the new headquarters is expected to start this year and work is expected to be completed by 2024.
Epic’s current headquarters are also located in Cary, just a 10-minute drive from the mall, making it an easy commute. Buying makes sense on paper, and personally I would rather they do it than spend the money on doing weirder and more fake advertisements. I’m just disappointed that Epic didn’t take the most obvious and fun way of modeling the area after the old Fortnite Mega Mall.
So, did any of you buy an entire mall today? If so, feel free to rub it on our faces in the comments!
