Whether you are an avid fan or not, Fortnite continues to be an integral part of contemporary video game culture. With a plethora of popular events – like the recent Battle of Galactus – For bonus cosmetics, Fortnite’s player base always has new content to explore and enjoy. A new update, however, has improved the framerate of the popular Battle Royale on next-gen consoles. Fortnite already runs at 4K and 60 FPS on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but now the 120FPS mode, which can be activated in the video settings tab, improves the instant action the game is known for.
The 120FPS mode, however, has an impact on Fortnite’s resolution. If you’ve enjoyed gaming in 4K, you’ll have to get by with 1440p if you plan on cranking up the framerate. In addition, shadows, post-processing and diffusion distances will be significantly reduced. According to The edge, the Xbox Series S locks at 1080p if 120FPS mode is enabled. And if you’re playing Fortnite on a monitor – the best way to play competitive shooters in my honest opinion! – 120FPS mode will only be compatible with 120Hz screens.
