As GM focus more on electric vehicles, the company is modernizing its classic logo. For more than 50 years, the automaker has used all-caps white lettering underlined on a blue square. The last emblem changes things up with a lowercase “g” on a white background inside a square with rounded corners. There are three color variations: solid blue, solid black, and gradient blue.

The latter, says GM, evokes “the clean sky of a zero-emission future” as well as “the energy” of its Ultium battery technology. Like its predecessor, the new logo is underlined. Combined with the “m”, the negative space forms the shape of an electrical outlet. Along with the logo, GM has unveiled a marketing campaign focused on the Ultium platform and it will relaunch its website on January 11.
