As 2020 approaches, conductor Marin Aslop had planned to do a year-long concert series dedicated to the composer, with performances scheduled across six different continents. Obviously, this has become impossible with the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, they now plan to do the next best thing: a concert online with the participation of 10 orchestras from all over the world. Ahead of tonight’s show, artists from all over the world were invited to share videos that inspire them with joy. A selection of these videos will be played as Aslop and the company browse Ode to Joy. If you like what you see you can donate to Music for relief, which tries to raise funds for musicians struggling financially during the pandemic.
