Burial Chambers are small, procedurally generated dungeons that can be found and explored in Valheim. This section of the IGN guide will teach you how to find the burial chambers in Valheim.

How to find burial chambers

Once you feel comfortable venturing out and exploring, you will quickly come across the Black Forest. This biome contains more powerful enemies and Greydwarf skeletons.

It is also the location of the various burial chambers scattered around the world. They are presented to the outside world as small cave-like dwellings made of rocks.

These procedurally generated claustrophobic mazes are home to dangerous enemies such as skeletons and ghosts, so make sure you prepare with the right weapons and gear, and be well fed.

Upon entering you will still be faced with three paths, usually hidden behind wooden doors. However, the paths behind each door vary each time. Make sure you have a torch equipped, as the burial chambers are black except for a few scattered yellow mushrooms which give off a subtle glow.

As you explore the narrow hallways, you will find many powerful enemies, including skeletons and ghosts. Try to lure them into a room that gives you more room for combat if you feel trapped. You can also close the doors if you are overwhelmed, as they cannot pass the doors or open them when closed.

Some rooms contain chests that can be looted. These usually contain coins, rubies, amber, feathers, and more.

If you’re lucky, you’ll find a room with Surtling Cores in it. These rare items are needed to craft a Foundry and Charcoal oven, as well as portals for transport.

You can also come across a rune that reveals the location of Valheim’s second boss, Oldest boy.

Once you complete a burial chamber, it will no longer create loot or enemies.
