Looking for mine and smell a specific type of metal? Well, we’ve got you covered in our comprehensive guide to finding and mining each type of ore in Valheim below.

How to find copper ore in Valheim

Found in the Black Forest biomes you will find large moss covered rocks that feature copper colored inclusions all throughout the rock and to mine it you will need a wooden pickaxe or better.

You will know once you find the right type of rock because it will say “Copper Deposit”.

When mining copper ore, you will also receive stone because the copper ore is embedded in the large stone rock.

It should be borne in mind that copper ore often sinks very deep, so even if you think you have mined all of the copper in the rock, you will want to continue mining the entire rocky area as it may be hidden further below the ground.

How to find iron in Valheim

Requiring either a wooden pickaxe or a bronze pickaxe to mine, you will only find iron ore in the swamp biome.

Available through two different methods, you can first find Iron Ore by searching the Swamp for Middy’s hidden scrap piles. To find these piles, you will need to have your Wishbone equipped – an item that is obtained by defeating Boss Bonemass.

As you explore the swamp biome, use the unique pulsating effect of the Wishbone and observe that it gets louder and the ping noise begins to ring faster. This will eventually lead you to hidden muddy junk piles that can be mined like any other resource.

Alternatively, you can find a more reliable and consistent method of locating muddy junk piles by exploring Sunken Crypts. These crypts are generally fairly easy to spot as they are normally surrounded by enemies and are heavily lit by glowing green torches and a large metal door.Entering a Sunken Crypt isn’t as easy as you would have hoped, as they need a Swamp Key to unlock the door. A Swamp Key can only be obtained by defeating the second boss, The Elder.

Once you’ve opened the Sunken Crypt, enter the Flooded Dungeon and look for large piles of muddy junk that often block the doors.

If you’re still struggling to find iron, this is also a pretty rare drop from killing Oozer and mining Meteor Craters.

Found in the Mountain Biome, Silver Ore can be mined from deposits that are mostly hidden under the ground.

Please note that silver ore may alone be undermined with a Iron pickaxe or better.

Although it is very possible to find silver veins on the surface of large mountain peaks, the chances of this happening are quite rare, so we highly recommend that you acquire the Wishbone, as this will allow a great deal more reliable and consistent in finding and extracting money. ore.

If you haven’t yet defeated Boss Bonemass to get the Wishbone, click on the following link to find our step-by-step guide on how to defeat Bonemass.

Once you’re in the mountain biome, equip the Wishbone and watch the green particle effect start to pulse from your character. As the pulsating effect gets stronger and the clicking sound starts ringing faster, pull out your pickaxe and start mining under the ground. If you dig in the right spot, you should find silver ore under the ground. If you’re still struggling, keep in mind that some of the smaller mountain biomes won’t contain silver veins, so consider checking out some of the larger biomes for luck!
