Basic Wood is the second level of wood you will encounter in Valheim and is needed to craft more advanced weapons and equipment. This section of the IGN guide will teach you how to get basic wood in Valheim.
How to get basic lumber
To find basic wood, you will need to venture into the Black Forest. It is the second biome of Valheim and contains more powerful enemies like various types of Greydwarf, as well as skeletons that wield swords or bows and arrows.
Once you have come to a Black Forest, you will want to locate the pins. They are the leanest trees, not to be confused with the largest fir. You can determine the type of tree by walking towards it and placing your mouse cursor over its trunk.
Pines can be cut with a stone ax, so start cutting.
Once you’ve chopped down the tree, continue chopping the logs and each one will snap into a bundle of lumber and core wood.
