The prince holding Prince of Persia might be able to control the weather, but Ubisoft cannot. Unfortunately, that means the publisher needs a few more months to complete their remake of The sand of time. Ubisoft first revealed the delay by a post shared on its official Czech Republic page. The message has since been deleted, but Resetera members and NeoGAF were able to copy and translate the text before it was deleted. “We need more time to finish the game,” the post explains. “With that, the release date of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake has been moved to March 18, 2021. We believe this is the right move to make sure we bring you a game you love. The title was previously due out in January.

Remake of the Sands of Time has been officially revealed during Ubisoft’s Forward showcase event in September. As the name suggests, this is a revamp of the classic platformer game from 2003. (This entry was also a reboot of the Prince of Persia series that began in 1989.) The game was popular enough to spawn a flurry of sequels and a film adaptation starring Jake Gyllenhaal. There hasn’t been a real Prince of Persia game since 2010 The Forgotten Sands, However. The excitement was strong for Remake of the Sands of Time, but the early trailers, which only showed poor visuals, left fans feeling cold. “Now this is a remake that needs a remake,” a YouTube commentator written in september. Hopefully Ubisoft will put the extra time to good use.
