“ Jones would be too fat for him ”

following Israel AdesanyaThe unsuccessful transition from the light heavyweight division to former division champion Daniel Cormier suggested that a “great fight” against Jon jones does not need to happen.

In the latest edition of DC & Helwani, Cormier said Israel Adesanya’s wins at middleweight were the most convincing he could beat Jones. However, after watching Adesanya’s performance this weekend, DC believes Jones would be “too fat” for The Last Stylebender.

Here’s what Daniel Cormier said about a potential fight between Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones:

At UFC 259, Israel Adesanya couldn’t beat Jan Blachowicz. The reigning UFC light heavyweight champion successfully defended his title for the very first time. He and Adesanya walked the distance for the 25 minutes at UFC APEX.

Blachowicz having managed to climb to the top of the light heavyweight division, the Polish champion should now focus on Glover Teixeira.

The current champion has even made it clear that Teixeira, who was the backup fighter for the main event of UFC 259, is next to challenge the 205-pound title.

What’s in store for Israel Adesanya after UFC 259?

Despite his first loss at UFC 259, Israel Adesanya now wants to bounce back and return to winning conditions. The reigning UFC middleweight champion is expected to come back to 185 and focus on his division for now.

With former champion Robert Whittaker set to face Paulo Costa on April 17, the winner could face Adesanya later this year. Other contenders in the division include Kevin Holland, Marvin Vettori and Darren Till.

In a recent interview, Israel Adesanya even mentioned that if there was anyone he would rather fight next in the middleweight division, it would be Till.

The defending champion even urged The Gorilla to keep winning and earn a title shot. The Liverpudlian will face Vettori for their next fight, while Holland will fight Derek Brunson.
