LeBron James has Kobe-esque play in Lakers’ win over Cavs

LeBron James on Monday arguably had his best game – yet – of the 2020-21 NBA season.

James broke into the Lakers’ road game against his former team, recording season highs in points (46), field goal percentage (73.1) and 3 point percentage (63.6) in a 115-108 win over the Cavs. He also had eight rebounds and had six assists, two blocks and two steals to help Los Angeles improve to 10-0 on the road this year.

That’s not all: after missing the final blow of the third quarter, James had a brief back-and-forth with a member of the Cavs front office – that he refused to name – helping him reach a fourth quarter of 21 points. It was more than Cleveland as a team (19).

And he did all of this on the eve of the first anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s death. According to ESPN Stats & Info, James has become the oldest Lakers player to score at least 40 points since Bryant scored 60 in his last career game:

Perhaps it’s fitting that James’ performance came a year to the day after Bryant’s last tweet, in which the superstar tasked James with driving the game forward:
