When Apple launched HomeKit for secure video at WWDC in 2019, he said the service will work with upcoming cameras from Logitech. Sure enough, the Circle View camera that the accessory maker launched earlier this year works exclusively with Apple’s secure video platform. Now Logitech also has launched the first consumer smart doorbell to support HomeKit Secure Video, which means its camera images will be encrypted before uploading to iCloud.
The Logitech Circle View Doorbell can capture head-to-toe video from just two feet away, has true HDR and night vision capability. Its featured feature is HomeKit Secure Video, which you can view in the Home app on Apple devices. The platform can determine when a person, animal or vehicle is in the video, and it can identify the people you tag in Photos. It can also send you notifications on iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or HomePod when people come to the door while you are away. The tech giant claims that videos captured by HomeKit are end-to-end encrypted and are not counted in your iCloud storage.
