Last modification:

Maneater is the second boss of the tower of Latria Archstone, located at the end of the Upper Latria region. It is a mighty beast capable of knocking you off the bridge with its mighty dashboard and raining down Magic on you while flying in the air. Once you’ve reduced it to about a quarter of your health (or after a few minutes of combat), a second Maneater will appear.

Maneater Boss Strategy

The first thing to keep in mind during this fight is, how close am I to the edge? One of Maneater’s most common attacks is his dashboard which will easily knock you off the edge if you don’t stand near the middle of the bridge. If you are a melee user you want to simultaneously be as close to the middle of the bridge as possible at all times and try to avoid standing directly in front of Maneater. Most of his attacks (his slam and jump jabs) hit the area in front of him, and his run can be avoided with a side step (or with your shield if you have enough stamina).

Always try to attack him from the side or from the back, which will cause him to stagger at times, leaving him open to long combos. Keep in mind that he can quickly crouch down and prepare for a quick attack at any time, so allow yourself some stamina to roll. If you stray too far from Maneater, he will sometimes throw a magical explosion at you, which can be blocked with your shield. He will also occasionally be bitten by his snake tail, which attempts to enchant him with poison. Use this as an opening to get 1-2 free attacks.

If you are a remote user, you want to use an essentially similar strategy, but you can put yourself in less danger by waiting for the dodge to complete and then launching attacks when it leaves itself vulnerable afterwards. It’s also worth noting that you can hide behind the large torch in the middle of the bridge and Maneater will get stuck on the other side, giving you a moment to heal or rest.

publicity

If Maneater rushes to the bridge, he will start flying around the arena and launching magical attacks at you. Ranged users can continue to attack while he’s in the air, while melee users will just have to dodge and wait. When the first Maneater gets weak a second will spawn, so be sure to kill the first one as soon as possible to avoid teaming up twice. Repeat the same process against the second Maneater to defeat him and win the battle.
