Legendary Mass Effect Edition, a revamped version of BioWare’s iconic sci-fi trilogy, is slated for release on May 14 and is available for Pre-order now. The game is heading to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, and it will also be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S via backward compatibility on the same day.

The Legendary edition is a complete revamp of the series focused on visual and fidelity, and adds 4K Ultra HD with HDR support to all three games. The developers of BioWare have upgraded the majority of the characters, smoothing out textures and adding features like Ambient Occlusion and Underground Diffusion to make the environments more realistic. In practice, the game looks great.

“Diffusion below the surface is a really subtle effect, but it can make the difference in making someone’s face feel alive and not like clay,” said Director of Environment and Characters Kevin. Meek during a media preview Legendary edition. “And the ambient occlusion, it was on very selected cutscenes in Mass effect 3, but there just wasn’t the processing power back then to have it throughout the game. I think that’s really fundamental to anchoring the scene, adding that depth.

The Legendary edition also responds to a handful of complaints from longtime fans. For example, the elevators in the first two games are ridiculously long, as they’re used instead of loading screens. We’re talking about one minute per trip, which is banana in a universe where intergalactic travel is the norm. An elevator ride that took 52 seconds in the original Mass Effect was shaved at 14 seconds in the Legendary edition.

In addition, the PC version fully supports gamepads, 21: 9 widescreen settings and DirectX 11. The original Mass Effect less focused on shooting than later entries, so the developers tweaked combat in the first game to feel smoother, including zoom shots for guns and an improved HUD.

“There was a little bit of friction there, in the way the fight works,” producer Crystal McCord said. “It was really more of an RPG than a shooter. So what can we do to make this a little more transparent? “

The end of Mass effect 3 was controversial, with many players left feeling that their decisions throughout the trilogy were castigated for the sake of surface drama. A few months later 3At launch, BioWare rolled out the Extended Cut DLC Pack, which added cutscenes and context for the original ending, giving more weight to player choices. This is the ending that will be available in the Legendary edition.

The Legendary edition includes 40 bits of Mass Effect DLC. Since the narrative has not been touched, the romantic chords remain the same throughout the trilogy, despite the hope that BioWare grows. same-sex relationship options.

Legendary Mass Effect Edition

The canonical version of Shepard female appeared on the box of Mass effect 3 has been ported in all three games, and the character creation system has been extended.

“One of the first things we really wanted to do was, throughout the trilogy, unify the options,” Meek said. “If something exists in 3, we want it to exist in 1, and we want that to be consistent. And then also, we really wanted to broaden the choices for things like skin color and hair styles that just weren’t wide enough originally to support the diversity of our player base or to give fans the ability to create that Shepard they really wanted to play with.
