BRYCE Cartwright suffered a nightmare start to his stint in Parramatta by breaking his jaw in a freak training accident yesterday.
Cartwright, who had a miserable run with injuries and form falls during his three seasons on the Gold Coast, had trained well and was eagerly awaiting a fresh start.
But the talented former city representative caught a lost boot in training during an exercise and was immediately taken to hospital.
“It’s a shocking chance for the guy, but the only good thing is that it happened in the preseason and he shouldn’t miss too many weeks of competition,” Eels coach said. Brad Arthur at WWOS.
“He looked good and we actually intended to play him on our first try on Thursday to give him a hit.
“They are still doing tests to determine the full extent of the damage.”
Cartwright, 26, is expected to be out for four to six weeks.
