“The following issue has been resolved where the PS4 version of the game was sometimes installed from the PS4 game disc even after upgrading from the disc version of a PS4 game to the PS5 version.”The issue was affecting intergenerational games such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which saw its release on a PS4 disc and would then unlock a PS5 upgrade when used in the new console. The bug would cause the console to repeatedly attempt to install the PS4 version from disk, every time it was turned on, despite the PS5 version already present.
It fixes another issue with PS4-PS5 upgrades, after fixes for a download queue bug that blocked installations of the PS5 version, and a new warning system indicating if you start a PS4 game on your new console. Sony announced today that it shipped 4.5 million PS5s in 2020 – corresponding to the launch of the PS4. It is estimated that in the United States, 10 to 15% of the PS5 were sold for profit.
