Rings Neighbors app still suffers from privacy loopholes almost three years later. TechCrunch at learned a bug in the Amazon-owned neighborhood watch tool revealed specific locations and home addresses for anyone posting to the software. The app was retrieving hidden location data from Ring’s servers. Although users do not see the information, an attacker could combine this information with unique publication numbers to help interpret the locations.
Ring spokesperson Yassi Shahmiri said the company fixed the issue once it became aware of it and had “no evidence” of malicious access.
