Pakistan got off to a disappointing start in the second T20I against South Africa. Visitors entered without Fakhar zaman today.
Sharjeel Khan opened the sleeves with Mohammad Rizwan. However, both batsmen came out in the first three overs.
Fakhar Zaman was in sublime contact during the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series between Pakistan and South Africa. He even played a vital 27-point shot in the first T20I of this series last week. However, he developed a rash on his leg before the second game.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said the left-handed batsman was unavailable for selection today due to a ‘leg allergy’. ESPNCricinfo clarified on social media that Fakhar Zaman missed the shot due to a rash on his leg.
His replacement, Sharjeel Khan, had received a ban from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for his involvement in the PSL fixing scandal. However, he has served his sentence and is now back in the national colors.
Sadly, Khan couldn’t make his comeback memorable, as George Linde reclaimed his wicket in the third.
George Linde troubles Pakistan in the absence of Fakhar Zaman
George Linde opened the bowling alley for South Africa in the second T20I in Johannesburg. He sent Mohammad Rizwan back in good shape to the locker room on the first ball of the match. Soon he got the better of Sharjeel Khan, Rizwan’s opening partner.
Pakistan was 11/2 in three overs. Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez attempted to reconstruct the sleeves. The duo added 24 points in total as Pakistan finished with 35/2 in the first six overs.
It will be interesting to see if Pakistan can win this match without Fakhar Zaman. You can follow the live scoreboard of the second T20I between Pakistan and South Africa here.
