The Golden Knights may only be in their fourth season, but the young franchise has already established itself as a trailblazer – and we’re not talking about making the Stanley Cup final in their first year.
Already sporting shiny gold jerseys, the franchise joined the ranks of Notre Dame football and the team’s top scorer in some European hockey leagues when it made its debut with gold chrome helmets on Thursday night.
To be fair, not all forward thinking trends are successes; there are many, many misfires (parachute pants or white skates, anyone?). The club did their best to make it work but lost 1-0 to the Ducks.
So, is Vegas ahead of its time? Who’s to say, but at the moment the Golden Knights are 0-1 in helmets and, as expected, people had a lot to say about chrome domes on Twitter
Look at them now … because there is NO WAY they will carry those abandoned buckets again. Ryan Reaves must have looked at himself in the mirror and mumbled “you must be kidding me” https://t.co/OodOr16tjt
