Fusion energy could eventually meet all of our energy demands. It is not that simple to make the process work in a sustainable way. We are still talking about release seconds at the moment, but the KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) device recently set a world record by keeping his plasma at super hot 180 million degrees Fahrenheit for 20 seconds – almost double the time of the second best effort to date.
KSTAR’s ultimate goal is to operate continuously for five minutes at this temperature by 2025, which will be another crucial step in making fusion reactors science reality, not science fiction. Today, we also have Tesla updates, iCloud issues, and other scientific breakthroughs.

Nominated for the most unlikely scientific title this year, scientists at the University of Oxford have pulled it off turned CO2 in jet fuel. The technique effectively reverses the process of fuel combustion. The team heated a mixture of citric acid, hydrogen, and an iron-manganese-potassium catalyst to turn CO2 into a liquid fuel capable of powering jet planes.
The approach is inexpensive, straightforward and uses common materials. In fact, it is cheaper than the processes used to turn hydrogen and water into fuel. The researchers, however, speak with industrial partners and do not see any major scientific obstacles. This conversion process would allow airlines to keep their existing aircraft and become carbon neutral until they are ready for green propulsion. It’s like a hybrid energy plane, but no.

BuzzFeed News Bumble reports that Bumble took photos of artist Cali Rockowitz wearing a bralette due to a policy prohibiting photos of swimsuits and underwear indoors. Apparently a bikini top or a shirtless look is fine as long as the photos have been “taken outside”. And no, you can’t edit photos to simulate outdoor shooting, apparently.
A spokesperson said BuzzFeed the policy went into effect in 2016 after user complaints and research. Shirtless bathroom selfies were ‘most swept to the left’. Users pointed out the inconsistency – men post selfies indoors, so why can’t women with bras and swimsuits? Bumble has yet to fully clarify its policy.

That pesky holiday activation wave.
You’re not alone if you’ve had trouble, over the weekend, getting your newly gifted iPad or Apple Watch to work – or if you’ve been recruited to help a parent. On Christmas Day, Apple warned of iCloud account and login issues. The company didn’t say much in the alert, but told a Twitter user that “big capacity»Created problems.
Apple managed to fix the issue at 4:35 p.m. EST on December 26, just under 36 hours after it started.
